WARRINGTON Rowing Club's ladies and junior squads tasted success when they entered the last distance head race of the season at Northwich Spring Head, before the summer regatta season commences.

The ladies quadruple scull coached by Ken Bateson, consisting of Gill Laidlaw, Pippa Smith, Louise Cramp, Charlotte Brennan and coxed by Emma Dunbavand earned gold medals in the hotly-contested intermediate three category.

Rowan Lidbury, in her maiden competition, achieved an impressive gold medal single sculling in the youngest veteran category masters A.

Coached by Warrington's club captain, Dave Jordan, the junior 14 boys excelled with wins for Matt Baguley, Alistair Eaves, Tom Carroll and Connor Guerin in the quadruple scull, commandingly coxed by Becky Marsh.

Baguley collected a second gold medal in the junior 14 double scull event, with partner Tom Reed.

There was also double success for Lucy Glover, who richly deserved her two gold medals, winning both the women's junior 15 single scull and double scull events along with her ever-improving partner Ellie Davies.

Dan Lee and George Houghton completed Warrington's gold medal haul winning the men's junior 15 double scull event.
