Leigh Miners Rangers 52 Rylands Sharks 28
SHARKS suffered defeat at the hands of Leigh Miners Rangers A in the North West Men’s League Division Two.
They opened the scoring after three minutes when a break from Matt Taylor down the middle set up prop Ryan Palin to crash over from the next play, with Jack Lewis adding the extras.
But Miners took control and built up a 22-6 advantage with four tries and three goals before a solo effort from Sharks’ full back Luke Walker, goaled by Lewis.
Both sides traded tries before the interval with Sharks’ try coming by way of second rower Lewis Litherland and, with both converted, the teams turned round at 28-18.
Two tries apiece brought the score to 40-28 with Sharks’ scores coming from centre Danny Hoyland and from man-of-the-match Walker.
But the hosts stretched their lead late on with two further six pointers.
Sharks: Luke Walker, Chris Taylor, Phil Antrobus, Danny Hoyland, Jason Brookes, Jack Lewis, Dave Walker, Mike Lagar, Louis Walsh, Ryan Palin, Jack Sherratt, Lewis Litherland, Matt Taylor, Dave Manfredi, Mark McArdle, Rob Campbell.
