STRETTON first team’s fine run continued against Old Parkonians, as did the form of Ali Zubairi.

Batting first stretton struggled to 158 all out in 35 overs, with Zubairi scoring 65, his third 50 in three weeks, and the only other significant contribution came from Junaid Mir, 17.

Any concern that this was not enough soon went through an excellent team fielding performance that kept it tight and constant wickets fell.

Star bowling came from Zubairi, 6 for 13 in 9.3 overs, and Junaid Mir, 2 for 23.

The seconds lost a thriller at Wilmslow. Batting first Stretton scored heavily to get to 235 with runs from Richard Taylor, 76, and other contributions from Umar Naseer, 39, Joe Large, 36, Mark Hodgson, 32, and Andrew Taylor, 24.

Despite two early wickets from Large and Ben Bravington, Wilmslow middle order upped the scoring rate and approached the target. Taylor took two late wickets to make it tight but Wilmslow scored the winning runs, 236 for 5, in the last over.
