ALL five crews from Warrington Rowing Club who represented the north west in the Junior Inter Regional Regatta at the National water sports centre in Nottingham reached their respective finals.

Three crews achieved silver medals, which was a remarkable success at a national competition. These were Lucy Glover in the Women's Junior 15 single scull – beaten by less than a metre over a 1500m course – Ayesha Wooler, Pippa Curren, Gina Tarpey and Lucy Stanhope in the Women's Junior16 coxless quadruple scull and Alistair Eaves, Connor Guerin, Matt Baguley and Tom Carroll in the Men's Junior 14 quadruple scull, coxed by Becky Marsh.

The Men's Junior 14 quadruple scull won their heat commandingly in a time of 5.59, 25 seconds ahead of second place.

In their final they did not get a good start and had to battle through the rest of the field, just running out of water before they could take first place, finishing second in a time of 5:48.

It is a remarkable achievement as these young men, who are coached by club captain Dave Jordan, have only been involved in the sport for less than 18 months.

Sarah Whitely, Dominique Billingham, Izzy Oldland and Grace Rooney, coxed by Georgie Richards, in the Women's Junior15 quadruple scull and Daniel Lee and George Houghton in the Men's Junior 15 double scull were placed a commendable fifth in the final of their events.

The north west women came second and the region fourth overall in the competition of 12 national regions.
