FASHION and textiles students at Swindon College have embarked on an ambitious project to create a series of pieces to be displayed at Kings Court Home’s dementia unit.
The artwork will aim not only to improve and embellish patients’ surroundings but to promote their wellbeing through the use of bright colours.
In order to support this project, Swindon College is looking for local volunteers with knitting, weaving, crochet or lace making skills to lend students a hand.
Tutor Natalie Adamson-Wain said: “The textiles industry has changed at a staggering rate and it is important that these traditional skills are maintained and passed on to a new generation. “ “We are looking for anyone who is willing to work with a group of seven students in May and June to complete the brief.
“This is a great opportunity to get involved in an exciting and worthwhile project and to work with the students, not only passing your skills down but also learning new techniques.”
