A PAIR of Warrington Water Polo Club players represented Great Britain at the Slowianka Cup in Gorzow, Poland.
Tom Hadley and James Williams recently returned from the tournament, which acts as preparation for the European Championship Qualifying competition in Istanbul in May.
They lost 9-12 to Ukraine in the opening fixture, before taking a 6-0 lead against Belarus only to be pegged back to 6-5 before scoring five unanswered goals in the last quarter.
GB then played twice in one day, beating Poland 10-6 but losing to Moldova in the evening 3-7.
The final day saw an easy 14-0 win over the Czech Republic, meaning they finished third of the six competing teams. This equals GB’s best ever result in this competition.
