HIGH-FLYING Championship side Doncaster will visit with history stacked against them.

Warrington boast a flawless record in the sides’ previous encounters, winning all 10, and enjoyed a 68-20 victory the last time they met on February 5, 1995, in the Regal Trophy at Wilderspool Stadium.

The 1994-95 season was also Doncaster’s last outing in the top flight, while the only previous Challenge Cup meetings between the pair came in 1963 and 1961. In the latter, flying winger Brian Bevan scored four tries that day, as did Jim Challinor, as Warrington posted 39 points without reply away from home.

Doncaster romped their way into this year’s fifth round with a 68-18 win over Hemel Stags, also breaking the 60-point marker against the British Army a round previous. They are yet to lose since that fourth round success, consolidating third position in the Championship – behind table toppers Leigh Centurions and Featherstone Rovers – with a 20-12 win over North Wales Crusaders followed by a 42-34 defeat of champions Sheffield Eagles.

The Dons’ last visit to Warrington, however, was not against Wolves but instead to secure their promotion to the Championship after seeing off Oldham Roughyheds in the 2008 National League Two play-off final.

The side from the Keepmoat Stadium are managed by player-coach Paul Cooke and the stand off has plenty of Challenge Cup pedigree having won the competition with Hull in 2005.

Cooke suffered Grand Final heartache a year later in defeat to St Helens and the 33-year-old was the subject of a controversial cross-city move to rivals Hull KR in 2007 before joining the Dons.
