9:51am Tuesday 22nd April 2014 in Sport
Neston 4th XI 115 all out Warrington 3rd XI 118 for 6
Warrington won by four wickets NESTON were confronted by a great spell of bowling from Billy Gilbert, 5 for 32, backed up by Alan Hitchmough, 2 for 25, with Dan Rudd, 1 for 3, and Dave Lee, 1 for 24, mopping up the tail as the visitors were back in the shed for 110 in 34 overs.
After an early setback of losing two early wickets the home side’s reply was not convincing until the experienced trio of Ian Sleigh, 28, Alan Hitchmough, 18no, and Tim Rothwell, 15 not out, saw the home side to a four-wicket victory.
Timperley 3rd XI 199 for 3 Warrington 4th XI 145 for 9
TIMPERLEY on winning the toss elected to bat with their opening bat chancing his arm to smash an unbeaten 129 allowed the home side to declare at 199 for 3.
The pick of the Warrington bowlers were Rishav Manta, 2 for 59, and Mike Newsholme, 1 for 24.
After a steady start from Dom Hastings, 18, and Matt Jackson, 12, teenager Arshan Dadrualla, 32, and 13-year-old Jamie Abram, 33, supported by a brisk 24 from Tom Lloyd, Warrington had a slight hope of reaching their target but with the fall of a flurry of wickets Warrington batted out a draw.
