BRAGGING rights are at stake when Woolston Rovers host Crosfields in Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Three at Monk Sports Club on Saturday.

Rovers convincingly beat Peterlee Pumas at the weekend and will be looking to build on that performance, while Crosfields were 34-14 home victors over Heworth as they maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign.

“The game at Peterlee will hopefully have given the lads some confidence,” said Rovers head coach Lee Westwood.

“Local derbies are always games to look forward to and I am sure that the game on Saturday will not disappoint.”

Westwood added: “Crosfields are full of confidence and the lads will be working very hard in training to give ourselves the best chance of coming out on top.”

Rovers A will also be involved in a ‘derby’ at Culcheth Eagles on Saturday. in North West Men’s League Division Two Rovers A were beaten 30-8 at Latchford Albion at the weekend but there were plenty of positives in the defeat.

“We certainly gave Latchford a very hard game and we will be hoping to perform well once again at Culcheth,” said coach Chris Ball.

“We know that they are always a difficult side to play against but if we can control the ball well and work hard in defence then we will give ourselves a great chance.”
