PRIESTLEY won the John Sleigh Cheshire Colleges' Cup beating West Cheshire 2-1 in a pulsating final.

Bradley Parker’s second goal late in extra time sparked mass celebrations among his Priestley teammates.

Captain and former Penketh High pupil Liam Turner said the team had been spurred on to win the cup after narrowly missing out on the North West Colleges' League play-offs.

“As a team it has taken time to gel, but we have improved considerably,” said the 18-year-old.

In the quarter finals Priestley defeated South Cheshire College and in the semi finals Sir John Deane’s were their victims.

Vice-captain Andy Williams, who also went to Penketh, said: “The college’s football development programme has really helped me as a player and the team worked hard to deliver a performance that our coach Rich Donnelly said we were capable of producing.”
