HOOK and Jab Police Boxing Club prospect Jimmy Gentle’s run in the England Schoolboy Championships came to an end when he was beaten in the semi finals on Sunday.
Gentle was beaten on a points’ decision by Birmingham fighter Louis Reagan from Benson ABC at Croxteth Sports Centre in Liverpool, after beating the title holder in the quarter finals.
He won his last-eight bout when the North West champion, Max Holman, was saved from further punishment by his coach, who threw in the towel in the second round.
The young prospect had already won the Merseyside and Cheshire area title in March by beating Everton Red Triangle’s Ellis Fitzgibbon on a clear points’ decision.
Other Hook and Jab boxers were in action at the Envi Nightclub in Liverpool.
Junior Ryan Dunning fought against Towerhill’s Dominic Wright, with a record five wins out of seven contests.
Wright pushed Dunning all the way but could not match his speed or power, with the Hook and Jab pugilst taking a clear points’ decision for six wins out of six contests.
Liam McDonagh lost on a split points’ decision in an action-packed contest against Jake Hughes from Birkenhead club Venture.
