SHAUN Reid is confident Warrington Town will enter the play-offs as favourites if they build on Saturday’s win against Clitheroe.

Ben Wharton, Scott Metcalfe and Conor Roberts strikes sealed the three points in Town’s bid for promotion from the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North.

Excitement is now building in the Yellows’ dressing room.

“It’s dead exciting,” said Reid. “We all wanted to win the league but we have now got to focus ourselves on the play-offs.

“You can look at it two ways; the negative is we haven’t won the league but the positive is we can still get promoted and are having one of the club’s most successful seasons.

“We’ll go into the play-offs as favourites in my eyes. Momentum is massive, we have drawn too many games but on Saturday we took our chances and that can kick start our season.”

Reid is focussed on promotion this season, but aims to extend his Warrington reign whatever happens in the run-in.

“I’ve had two meetings with (director of football) Toby Macormac,” he added. “We have a list of players we want to bring in and we’re already planning for pre season.

“If we win the semi final then hopefully the fans will come out and back our chances of going up. It’s an exciting time for the football club and something I want to embrace – I’m loving it.”
