Rylands 4 Pilkington 1

RYLANDS recovered from a midweek cup final defeat to convincingly beat Pilkington in the Cheshire League top flight on Saturday.

The Warrington outfit were beaten 4-1 by Garswood United in the Cheshire League’s JB Parker Cup final on Wednesday, but scored three times in the first 10 minutes to effectively wrap up the three points against Pilkington at Gorsey Lane.

Kris Bell opened the scoring for the hosts and added his second after seven minutes from the edge of the area.

Ben Slater raced clear and coolly slotted beyond the Pilkington stopper to make it three after 10 minutes.

Andy Moor saved a Pilkington effort soon after and it took until the 70th minute for the visitors to pull one back, only for a James Daniels header to complete the rout with three minutes remaining.

Daniels had given Rylands the lead in the cup final last Wednesday, but Cheshire League Division One leaders Garswood replied with four goals to lift the trophy.
