Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds 2 Garswood United 1

VICTORY against the table toppers sets up Greenalls for this weekend’s cup showdown.

Two goals from Robbie Hanley put paid to Garswood United, the Cheshire Football League Division One Leaders.

Greenalls will be in confident mood for their Guardian Cup semi final against Eagle Sports on Saturday.

Manager Dave Bush was pleased with a first win in three attempts against Garswood this season.

He said: “The workrate of the players was fantastic, they’re a very fit bunch of lads and they made that count.

“Saturday is a big game for both sides, but if we can produce a performance like we did against Garswood, we will give ourselves a good chance"

Greenalls were without key players Craig Hoyland and Lee Vaughan for the clash, giving Danny Topping a chance to play his last game for the club before emigrating to Australia.

Hanley gave Greenalls a half-time lead with a neat lob over the onrushing keeper.

Lloyd Dean stabbed home to equalise for Garswood three minutes after the restart.

Hanley got his second to seal the win on 62 minutes after a Gareth Johns shot rebounded off the post directly into his path.

Greenalls: Craig Clare, Paul Dobson, Gareth Johns, Alex Hardman, Jack Hynes, Danny Topping, Lee Hughes, Mark Hughes, Robbie Hanley, Tomo Lees (Billy Bennett), Chris Rogers (Darren Kinsey).
