Grappenhall Sports 2 Sale Town 0

GRAPPENHALL'S recent form continued with a 2-0 home win against Sale Town.

With a few players missing the Sports squad was stretched and that led to Davies playing a very attacking system with the three strikers all starting.

The game was influenced by a very strong wind and Sports won the toss and decided to play in to the conditions in the first half.

However, they got off to a great start.

Ranny Dhwahli was fouled allowing Adam Rosterne to put in a super free kick that was spilled by an under pressure keeper allowing Jordan Rigby to smartly drive home from close range after only two minutes.

Sale did use the conditions to turn the sports back for a few times but failed to test the keeper throughout the first stanza.

At the other end, Sports were working hard to keep the ball on the deck and be patient in their build up play.

Chances came and went for Jordan Rigby and Dan Sisson and Ranny Dhwahli also did well in creating a couple of half chances for each other.

Sports came out as quickly in the second half as they did in the first and on 50 minutes, Daniel Sisson turned well in the box and slid the ball under the keeper to make it 2-0 after a decent move.

The second half then became much of a stalemate but Sale continued to press and work hard.

Danny Macintyte clearing off the line on 82 minutes after Sale's best move and effort.

Sports nearly made it three at the death when sub Chris Sweeney struck the post from a free kick.

Manager Darren Davies said: "The conditions were tough today and Sale worked very hard so this was a really good result.

“That's three wins on the bounce at a crucial time and two consecutive clean sheets to go with it so I've got to be pleased.

“We have two really big tests coming up now, in midweek away at Congleton and then against Sandbach next Saturday, but we go in to those games in good form and with a renewed confidence."
