New Springs Lions 14 Crosfields A 52
WHILE all the attention was at Hood Lane North with the opening of the pitch, the Alliance team did not want to go unnoticed at the weekend, with a fine victory away in Wigan against New Springs.
Soap controlled the first half through tries from Luke Cunningham, Tony Higham, Keiran Thomas, Andrew Campbell and Josh Rothwell, with Craig Lawton adding three conversions.
New Springs managed a couple of tries and a conversion for Soap to be in the lead 26-10 at the break.
Crosfields kicked on in the second half and recorded further tries through Phil Bannon, Pat Reardon, Matt Barber and Lawton, with Lawton adding a further four conversions.
New Springs could only manage one further score, and left the final score 52-14 in favour of Crosfields.
Cunningham and Bannon were the pick of the backs, with Phil Atherton leading the pack well.
However it was Tom Caswell who picked up the man of the match award for the visitors.
Soap host Cadishead next week on the new pitch, and hope to continue Crosfields’ unbeaten streak on it, with victories for the first team, under 18s and under 15s on the opening weekend.
