Crosfields 84 Peterlee 4

SOAP started life on the new pitch with a record victory against Peterlee Pumas.

Crosfields were dominant throughout and managed to chalk up 17 tries in the process.

Life president Colin Webb was in attendance to cut the ribbon and open up a new era for Crosfields.

Lewis Bani was the first scorer on the new pitch on two minutes, barging a few of his team mates out of the way to be in position to collect Jack Reid's pass out wide.

Tries came at regular intervals through Nathan Hamilton, Troy Brophy, two, Ian Boden and Danny Lee.

Jack Reid struggled with the conversions as all were missed.

Reid struck first with a fine solo effort in the second half, and handed over kicking duties to Ash Cornelia who slotted over the conversion.

Tries came at a quicker rate in the second half with Peterlee unable to get the ball off an on-fire Crosfields outfit.

Bani, Lee and Hamilton added to their first half tries, with Hayden James also scoring two.

Chris Burgess opened his account, with fellow centre Brophy adding two more to finish on four for the day.

Ash Cornelia got in the act with a try and a further seven conversions.

John Malcom added a fine try at the end for the visitors who stuck at their game plan and showed they were dangerous with ball in hand in the opposition half.

It was a great team effort for Soap.

Cornelia and Reid directed the team well from half back, with Barry Lowe and Dave Boden leading the pack well up the middle.

But it was Brophy who picked up the man-of-the-match award with his four tries, and had a hand in a few others.

Soap travel to Wigan St Cuthberts next week hopeful of maintaining their unbeaten start to the season.
