LYMM Ladies first team were knocked out of the Investec Women’s Vase on Sunday.

Sitting 2-1 up against Eastbourne Ladies with only eight minutes left on the clock, but after having a player sent off, they conceded two late goals to miss out on progression to the semi final, Megan Wilkin scoring both goals for Lymm.

The defeat was hard to take for a Lymm outfit who had taken the six-hour journey on the Saturday after a convincing 7-0 win against Northop Hall, which secured top spot in Cheshire Women’s League Division One.

With two league matches left nobody Lymm are sitting out of reach on 58 points, with second-placed Sale Lades on 49 points.

Lymm have the chance to do the double this season when they meet high-flying Bowdon Hightown Ladies at Bowdon in the Cheshire Cup on Sunday, March 16.
