Golborne Sports 1 Moore United 3

MOORE finally ended their dismal run of Cheshire Football League results with a fine performance at Golborne on Saturday.

Literally fighting for survival with just seven games left, Moore dominated the game from start to finish and were rewarded for their relentless pressing game with an early goal on 7 minutes when Johnny Rudge latched on to a Dave Willetts pass from midfield to beat the full back and calmly loft over the on-coming keeper.

Striker John Darbyshire was a constant thorn in the side of the Golborne defence when on 30 minutes was recklessly brought down in the box for an obvious penalty which he finished himself to make it 0-2.

Two minutes later the ref judged a Sean Willott challenge worthy of a straight red leaving Moore with 10 men for the remainder of the game.

The second half continued in the same vain as Moore maintained control, even with a man down and on 52 minutes a Matty Arnold cross from the left found Dave Willetts who drove the ball home to make it 0-3.

Golborne had a player sent off for a second yellow and scored a consolation goal on 63 minutes.
