WARRINGTON Rowing Club sent a strong team to the regional trials in a bid to represent the North West in the forthcoming regional championships at The National Watersports Centre in Nottingham.

The trials were held at Runcorn Rowing Club over a 1500m course on the River Weaver, with Lucy Glover being the first to pick up a win in the women’s junior 15s singles.

Next up were Pippa Curran and Aysha Wooler in the women’s junior 16s doubles, with the pair managing to open up a 10 second margin over their Liverpool rivals.

They were then joined by Lucy Stanhope and Gina Tarpey, who won the women’s junior 16s quads by an impressive 13 second margin against eight other crews.

Lastly, the boys junior 14s squad of Mat Baguley, Conner Guerin, Tom Carroll, Alisdair Eaves and cox Becky Marsh repeated their early season form by winning their event in fine style.

All should now be selected to represent the north west at the regional championships.
