Pilkington 1 Eagle Sports 3

EAGLE Sports came from behind with three goals in the last 15 minutes to earn a win against relegation threatened Pilkington FC in Cheshire Football League Division One.

Eagle were well off the pace and had turned in a below average performance before an impressive last period of the match took the three points back to Thornton Road.

Two goals from Cheshire Inter-League hitman Ged McAllister and a deflected effort from fellow inter-league player Adam Coleman were enough as Rob Hope's side continue to play catch up to the top teams in Division One.

Eagle: McDermott, Coleman, Chinn, Hall, Cross, Roberts, Hope, L Boardman, Ellis, McAllister, Walker. Subs: Waldron, Bruce, M Boardman, N Williams.

Denton Town Reserves 3 Eagle Sports Reserves 2

EAGLE Sports Reserves turned in a poor performance as they crashed out of the Cheshire FL Reserve Division Cup at the semi-final stage.

Bottom club Denton turned in a dogged display, coming from behind after Gareth Williams had given Eagle the lead, volleying home James Maher's inch-perfect free kick, to lead 2-1 late in the second half.

Eagle then got an equaliser after Jimmy Hardie was brought down by the goalkeeper; Williams grabbed his second from the penalty spot.

The scores stayed level and the game went into extra time.

On a heavy pitch, both teams began to tire and their causes were not helped when Joe Thomas and a Denton player were both shown red cards for an off the ball incident.

James McCoy then pulled off an excellent one on one save to keep Eagle level in the game.

Denton grabbed the winner when Williams failed to clear a cross, resulting in the ball spilling from McCoy's grasp, allowing the Denton striker to poke the ball home.

Eagle then piled on the pressure, with Wearing hitting the crossbar and numerous attempts being foiled by the Denton defence but it was all to no avail and the league's bottom club grabbed themselves a well-earned Cup final spot.

Eagle: McCoy, Hall, Stephenson, G Williams, Gibson, R Bishop, Maher, Muttock, Parker, Moriarty, Hardie. Subs: Derbyshire, Heywood, Nixon, Wearing, Thomas.
