Lymm 28
Broadstreet 31

LYMM were left reeling as a late try saw them succumb to a home defeat against Broadstreet.

Sam Mullarkey returned to the match day squad for the first time this season, but was forced to starting his comeback game on the wing.

Lymm went ahead inside three minutes thanks to a Cormack Nolan penalty.

Shortly afterwards, the visitors exposed the blindside after gathering the ball from a short lineout, their winger crossing the line unopposed.

On 20 minutes, a break on the right led by Mullarkey, and featuring great interchanges between the winger, Adam Bray and Andy Rowley, saw the latter go in at the corner.

Nolan converted, making it 10-5.

Broadstreet came back straight from the kick off; poor tackling allowing them deep into the Lymm 25 before a quickly-taken tap penalty, interfered with by Jordan Widdrington, gained the prop a yellow card.

Following a scrum, the ball was recycled through several phases before the away team eventually went over out wide.

Lymm replied, their forwards droving over for a try deservedly clutched by Ollie Higginson on the half hour.

Nolan converted, and his side led 17-10 at the break.

The hosts notched another penalty in front of the posts, but Broadstreet began to exert pressure and a scrambling defence led to a yellow card for Nolan as punishment for a deliberate knock-on.

On 50 minutes, Broadstreet went over for a converted try to make it 20-17 before Nolan slotted another three-pointer.

Lymm’s guests lost a man to the bin and, from a catch and drive, Sion Williams went over after 65 minutes.

But the hosts’ defence finally cracked during the closing stages, and Broadstreet’s winger went over for a converted try to make it 28-24.

With 80 minutes up, the Coventry-based club crossed again at the end of the contest’s final play.

Once converted, they had in their graps a 31-28 victory.

DEPLETED Lymm put up a spirited display, but were unable to stop Rossendale recording a bonus point victory.

The Warrington outfit managed to repel the first attack of the day, but minutes later weak tackling allowed their hosts to score two converted tries in quick succession.

Rhys Jones put Lymm in the right parts of the pitch and, after a lineout drive close to the Rossendale line, Danny Bates peeled off a driving maul to take two defenders over the line for unconverted try.

However, Rossendale added another converted score after the break.

Following a series of rucks, their stand-off danced through for another converted score shortly afterwards.

Lymm, for whom colts graduate Alex Nolan impressed on his debut, responded with veterans Henderson and Mark Sutton combining well from the base of a scrum to set up Mark Sutton for a score converted by Jones.

Rossendale had the final say with an unconverted score.
