Eagle Sports 6
Burtonwood Albion 1
EAGLE Sports’ hopes of emulating their Guardian Cup success two years ago remain alive after an extra time victory over Warrington and District League Premier Division outfit Burtonwood on Saturday.
The hosts took the lead in the first half when Lee Boardman coolly slotted past the visitors’ keeper into the bottom corner.
Albion struck back after the break when Alex Briscoe rolled in, though they struggled after being reduced to 10 men.
Eagle took the lead when Mike Hickman bundled home a corner after Lee Boardman’s initial attempt had been cleared off the line.
Hickman struck again minutes later before Stuart Bruce notched from Nathan Williams’ cross.
Further goals from Ged McAllister and Williams again guaranteed a semi final clash with Greenalls PSO.
Before that, they turn their attention back to the Cheshire League’s top tier this Saturday, when they travel to Pilkington.
Eagle: McDermott, Roberts, Williams, Chinn, Coleman, Hope, Bruce, Lee Boardman, Waldron, McAllister, Walker. Subs: Cross, Hickman, Mark Boardman, Hall.
