DIVISION Two of the Warrington Snooker League saw Walkers B take advantage of several teams not playing to close in on the promotion race.

They beat Irish Club 6-1, with the break of 32 from Declan Cassidy the only consolation for the defeated team.

Monks A kept themselves in the hunt for promotion after winning 5-2 at Rylands B, while there was a rare win for Deaf Social A when they beat GTBL B 5-2.

Newton Social B reduced the lead of the Division One frontrunners thanks to a 4-3 win at Irlam Catholic A, with breaks of 44 from Steve Crutchley and 38 from Wayne Brown meaning they sit two points behind having played one game less.

At the other end of the table Irlam Steelworks enjoyed a break of 46 from Paul Oliver, which together with a 32 break from James Short helped them to beat Penketh Cons B 5-2 to move clear of the drop zone.

Another relegation clash saw Jordan Purnell's break of 49 fall short as Woolston A came out 5-2 winners against Newton Social A, dragging them nearer the drop.

Division Three saw success for both Woolston teams as Woolston C won 4-3 at Roosters D and Woolston B beat bottom side Kings Club B 6-1.
