WARRINGTON Athletics Club runner Sam Dykes took part in the 800m in the British Athletics Indoor Championships at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield at the weekend, finishing fifth in his heat in 1min 54.12secs but failing to progress to the final.
* WARRINGTON Athletics Club runners took part in the final Manchester Area Cross Country League meeting at Wythenshawe Park on Sunday.
In the under 13s boys’ race, Sam Evans secured a fourth league win recording a time of 11mins 53secs to scoop the overall title. Jordan Jones came 17th in 12mins 53secs.
The under 11s boys’ saw Owen Darbyshire finish 21st in 11mins 4secs, while for the girls Lucia Meloni led Warrington home finishing 11th in 9mins 45secs. Ashley Nemits came 18th in 10mins 10secs and Maya Evans 26th in 10mins 24secs for a fifth-placed team finish.
Charlotte Stokes ran well finishing 44th in 11mins 45secs.
Overall, Lucia finished sixth with Ashley 17th, Maya 25th and Charlotte 34th.
Under 13 Isabelle Trevithick finished 18th in 10mins 42secs.
