A ROUND-UP from the weekend's Warrington and District League action.

Grange Sports Reserves 2 Windmill 0

Grange Sports Reserves produced their best performance of the season against fellow strugglers Windmill.

Played in atrocious conditions the game was of a very high standard.

Grange dominated the first half creating a number of chances before Kevin Ferrigan found the back of the net.

The second half saw a big improvement from Windmill who in the early stages caused problems for Grange, but as the action drew to a close Grange gained total control and finally killed the game off with a long range effort from Jordan Melvin.

Grange player manager Neal Jackson led by example and was awarded Man of the Match.

Eagle JFC 1 Daten 3rds 5

Both teams put up an excellent performance in adverse conditions.

Daten took hold of the game early with goals from Mike Nutkins and Ryan Jones, to lead 2-0 at half time.

Daten went further ahead with more goals from Nutkins and Jones and substitute Matty Diggins, who scored a 30-yard screamer.

Eagle continued to work hard and got a consolation goal.

Strong performances by captain Ian Morris, and Jack Hodgkiss contributed to the win and keeper Neil Owens, while not really tested, ensured that the team did not lose focus in the trying conditions.

Blackbrook 3rd 6 Monk Sports 5 (aet)

A host of missed opportunities by Monks allowed Backbrook to quickly gain a 3-0 lead in terrible weather conditions in this Rylands Cup quarter final.

Monks bravely fought back to make the game 3-2 at the break.

Blackbrook stretched their lead to 4-2 in the second half before the game was levelled at 4-4.

A penalty was given to the persistent Monks who then took the lead for the first time only to be pegged back to 5-5 by another penalty this time awarded to Blackbrook.

Blackbrook then retook the lead 6-5 in extra time through an own goal to finish a thrilling encounter.
