A WARRINGTON girl has glided on to the skating scene with a bronze medal in a national competition.

Lucy Collins, aged nine, achieved the success on debut alongside two other Warrington skaters in the juvenile category of the British Synchronised Skating Championships held in Sheffield.

The Culcheth Community Primary School student along with Gorse Covert Primary School pupils Emily Severs, aged 11, and Jacob Molyneux, aged 10, shone with Altrincham Synchronised Skating Club’s Whizz Kids team.

At the end of the medal ceremony the impressed judges named the Whizz Kids’ programme as the most entertaining of the day, beating all levels and age groups to the accolade.

Jacob and Emily, who is the team captain, have been skating for around three years, and although it was Lucy’s first competition with the team she has been getting her skates on for four years.

Next up for the Warrington trio will be the Trophe D'Ecosse in Dumfries in March and then an International trip to compete at the Kempen Trophy Synchro Competition in Belgium at Easter.
