Sale 3rd 25 Lymm 3rd 12
LYMM’S third side bowed out of the LBS Bowl Competition in the first round against local rivals Sale on Saturday at Carrington.
Sale ran in two tries, one converted, and a penalty to open up a 15-0 lead in the first 20 minutes as Lymm lost winger Tom Woods to a broken collarbone.
The visitors hit back before the break when a five-metre lineout followed by a driving maul allowed flanker Gillespie to power over for an unconverted try.
Sale added a converted try and a penalty after the interval, meaning Probert’s converted score was merely a consolation.
Lymm John Grant, Rob Pawsey, Andy Norcott, Ollie Chesworth, Dave Roberts, Danny Taylor, Sean Gillespie, Tom Graham, Craig Woolvine, Sam Lythgoe, Tom Woods, Jack Probert, Luke Ferguson, Reece Forrest, John Lawson. Subs: David Coon, Tom Lord, Paul Rathbone.
