FORMER Warrington Guardian Sports Personality winner Abi Fitzpatrick has been crowned senior women’s 200m champion at the North of England Indoor Championships at the EIS Arena in Sheffield.
Usually a 400m hurdle runner, the 21-year-old Sale Harriers athlete ran the quickest time in the heats, 24.66secs, to blast her way into the final.
Fitzpatrick then stormed ahead of an experienced field to take the gold medal in 24.64secs and be crowned champion, indicating that a strong 2014 season could lie ahead for the young athlete.
