WOOLSTON Rovers are seeking applications for a new head coach to spearhead their forthcoming 2014 National Conference League Division Three season.

Current boss Mike Grady, who is currently also in charge of the Wales Dragonhearts, is in advanced negotiations with the Wales Rugby League to take the helm at professional club South Wales Scorpions in Championship One.

Grady will join a long list of Rovers open-age coaches, who have moved into the professional game within the last 20 years.

They include Warren Ayres, Vinny Webb, Dave Elliott and John Fieldhouse.

The former Warrington Wolves Academy, Whitehaven, French side Racing Club Albi, York, Oldham and Rochdale centre or wing moved into coaching at Warrington Wizards in 2010 as assistant to Chris Campbell and crowned that year by helping to guide the side to a Rugby League Conference National Grand Final success.

He then progressed to head coach in 2012.

Following the merger back with Woolston Rovers, Grady helped to steer the club to a creditable fifth place finish in Division Three in their first year back in the NCL.

The NCL Division Three season starts in earnest at the beginning of March but before then Rovers set out on the road to Wembley when they have an exciting Tetley’s Challenge Cup first-round home tie against Halifax based Elland, who ply their trade a division above Rovers in the NCL ladder.

The game will take place at Monks Sports Club, Hillock Lane, Woolston, on Saturday, February 1, with a 1.30pm kick off.
