Lymm 2nd 17 Waterloo 2nd 18
A LATE penalty put pay to Lymm’s second team’s comeback on Saturday as they were narrowly beaten at home by Waterloo in the North West League’s Division One.
Waterloo dominated early on, kicking a penalty to go ahead before adding an unconverted try moments later.
Lymm had failed to get out of their half until Mark Sutton scored a pushover try after a Waterloo player had been sin binned.
The visitors replied with a converted try before the break, but found Sutton, Jack Harper and Tom Coon in inspired form thereafter – Harper driving over from short range for an unconverted score.
Almost immediately Nathan Fernyhough pounced on a loose ball for a try which Rhys Jones converted to send Lymm into the lead.
However, as Lymm resisted Waterloo’s pick and drive game they conceded a penalty and the visitors kicked the winning points with two minutes remaining.
Lymm: O Askew, D Horton, D Bates, J Cartwright, N Ashton, J Harper, T Coon, M Sutton, J Worton, R Jones, S Ward, N Fernyhough, W Swain, S Mahon, D Norman. Subs: J Lewis.
