SHAUN Reid was happy to welcome three points, by luck or judgement, after substitute Ash Ruane bagged an injury time winner.

Ciaran Kilheeney had put the visitors ahead midway through the opening period, only for Ben Grech-Brooksbank to fire home a leveller on 67 minutes.

Reid felt his side should have wrapped up the fixture in the first half, but was pleased to beat a team that had tested league leaders Curzon Ashton a week previous.

“I don’t know whether it’s just luck or I’m good at making subs,” he laughed.

“If it’s luck, then long may it continue and if it’s good management then long may that continue as well.

“You’re always going to need a bit of fortune and it gave us a bit of belief. We should have really been four, five, six up in the first half but their keeper played exceptionally well.

“They are battling for survival and they should have beaten Curzon Ashton, so it was never going to be an easy game.

“In the second half they came out strong and made it difficult for us, but we made a substitution in the last couple of minutes and it worked.”

Warrington: Ollerenshaw, Annan, Thompson, Guest, McKenna, Robinson, Dawson, Meakin, Bowen, Kilheeney, Metcalfe. Subs: Davies, Ruane, Wharton, Gahgan, Newby.
