LYMM lost their way slightly in muddling conditions against Widnes in this Raging Bull North West Leagues Division One match, but rallied in a strong second half to earn victory.
Penalties from Tom Shard kept Lymm in the match following Widnes’ two unconverted tries in the opening stanza, but it was in the second half that the hosts really kicked into gear.
Pownall’s diving try, converted by Shard, gifted Lymm a lead they never relinquished, with Shard chipping in with a try of his own and two further penalties to take his personal tally to an impressive 21 of Lymm’s 26 points.
