Sandbach 3rd 5
Warrington 3rd 56
WARRINGTON’S in-form third team ran in eight tries as they romped to victory as Sandbach on Saturday.
Matt Drinkwater, who converted all eight tries, opened the scoring before the first of a brace from number eight Jonathan Hughes.
Kyle Carter then scooted over after a telling break from Sean McDermott, with Hughes adding his second before two scores from Dick Tracer and another from Jon Bennett.
Sandbach managed a single score, but Craig Davis crashed over to complete the rout and give the travelling Warrington side the last say.
“Another pleasing win,” said captain McDermott. “Everything clicked and the fact that the tries were scored by forwards and backs shows what a great team effort it was, with the foundations laid by many of the non-scorers, especially Chris Higham.”
