Rylands 3 Denton Town 1

BOSS Dave Parr was impressed with Rylands’ response to going a man down in the first half as they beat Denton Town on Saturday at Gorsey lane.

James Sinker was dismissed before the break after Kris Bell and Lee Deakin had found the net, Liam Hayes wrapping up the points late on.

“I thought we were in complete control of the game without playing at our best until the sending off incident,” said Parr.

“But the lads responded well and credit must go to everybody for the way we adapted to a different formation in the second half.

“The squad are playing with real belief and confidence at the moment and playing some really good football.”

The Blues took the lead on 16 minutes when Bell latched on to a through ball to finish and almost doubled their lead when Deakin’s header rattled a post moments later.

Deakin’s mazy run saw him beat three defenders before being upended, only to pick himself up and rifle a free kick into the net to double Rylands’ lead.

The visitors clawed one back before the break when Sinker brought down the Denton forward and was shown red, Andy Moor was unable to keep out the resulting spot kick.

Moor was largely untroubled after the interval, despite Denton’s numerical advantage, while Hayes and James Daniels both went close at the other end.

Rylands were controlling possession, but it took until the 89th minute for Hayes to settle the game with a right-footed strike.

Rylands: Moor, J Sinker, Duffy, Prescott, R Sinker, Hayes, Lowe, Daniels, Smith (Brown), Bell (Rodgers), Deakin (Parr).
