Knutsford 1 Rylands 1

BOSS Dave Parr was delighted with Rylands’ attitude as they grabbed a last-gasp equaliser to bag a point at champions Knutsford on Saturday.

Jimmy Daniels’ late strike secured a point for the visitors at Manchester Road after Scott Beattie had put Knutsford ahead.

But Parr felt his outfit fully deserved the draw after dominating for large spells in the first half.

“I was delighted with the character shown by the lads after going behind so late in the game,” he said.

“They were determined not to lose and it was a great goal to earn us a point.

“It is a difficult place to come and get anything but I thought we were the dominant side in the first half and fully merited at least a point in the end.”

Rylands enjoyed two early chances, but were unable to break the deadlock as Daniels headed over the crossbar and Liam Hayes’ long-range strike failed to test Knutsford stopper Mark Higgs.

Rylands keeper Andy Moor easily gathered Knutsford’s first effort on target and was later forced to save from James Pickford, while Daniels again went close before the interval.

Alex Lowe fired narrowly wide after the break, but with five minutes left on the clock Beattie rose highest to head home and give Knutsford the lead.

However, James Parr’s cross was met by Daniels to level in the last minute and Rylands nearly took all three points when Lee Deakin sent Daniels through again, only to be foiled by Higgs.

Rylands: Moor, J. Sinker, Brown (Duffy), Prescott, Tebb, R. Sinker, Hayes (Parr), Lowe, Daniels, Smith (Dermody), Deakin.
