Warrington 2nd 52 Rochdale 2nd 24

WARRINGTON’s second string gained revenge for a 74-0 drumming earlier this season by hammering league leaders Rochdale, a win that moves them one point back into second place.

Obviously it was a result that delighted coach Paul Thompson, who said: “Rochdale are a very good side, but we showed we could match them up-front and this allowed our talented backs to run riot.

“On Saturday we meet Lymm and a win there will be some way to start the Christmas festivities.”

Tom Arnold starred for Warrington with five tries, while other efforts were added by Dee Mann, Matt Rockey and Max Walker, with Andy Almond adding the extras.

LYMM'S winning run in the Raging Bull North West Leagues Division One came to an end when they met a well-drilled and committed Park side.

The game was a reality check for the young Lymm side, with defence and ball retention shown to be areas for improvement.

Lymm were fighting a losing battle throughout, hitting back to 7-7 thanks to Coon’s try and Shard’s conversion but spending the rest of the game trailing before Lythgoe added their final try to reduce arrears.

They will have to improve against local rivals Warrington on Saturday.
