Grappenhall Sports 5 Lostock 0

GRAPPENHALL punched well above their weight as they transferred their recent cup success into the Cheshire Football League Division Two, hammering a Lostock team sitting 10 points and five league places above them.

Despite missing key players, Grappers drafted in some reserves deserving of a chance and immediately set a high tempo, Adam Rosterne sliding Dan Sisson in on goal to kick-start the rout.

First-team debutant Jordan Rigby doubled their lead from 25-yards out, before Kurt McCarthy made it 3-0 on 28 minutes with another long-range drive.

Sisson got the fourth with a great header from a Rosterne free kick, meaning Grappers were well in control at the turnaround.

But despite an improved performance from Lostock in the second half, Sisson’s hat-trick goal sealed a victory that pleased Grappers boss Darren Davies.

"We always have tough games against Lostock and with us missing a few key players I asked the boys to set a high tempo and they responded,” he said.

“Some of the goals and football in the first half was superb and where we should be more often.

“Lostock had a good second half and we stood strong to keep a clean sheet.”
