Altrincham Kersal 15

WARRINGTON feel as though they are now finding their feet at the higher North One West level.

They withstood a late challenge to gain a five-point win and move up to eighth in the standings.

And it sets them up for the visit of Vale of Lune at Walton Lea Road this weekend.

Coach Andy Roberts said: “This was a good win, although we probably took our foot off the gas in the second half.

“Vale of Lune inflicted a heavy defeatat the start of the season. However, I think we have adjusted to the tempo of this league.”

The Kersal clash marked the 100th first-team appearance of Zak Lythgoe and 50ths from Josh Riley and Tom Wood.

In the first five minutes Andy Roberts shimmied over between the posts to allow his brother Pat a simple conversion.

Prop Elliot Johnston bullied his way over, Roberts again converting for a 14-3 interval lead.

Jono Smith and Steve Pilkington got on the end of moves and the visitors crossed for their first try of the game.

Warrington responded with a penalty and the try of the match started in his own half by Danny Fleming and finished off in style by Jake Ashall.
