A PROFESSIONAL footballer from Longford made a splash in the Championship on Saturday, bagging four goals on his Birmingham City debut.
Warrington-born Jesse Lingard scored a hat-trick in 13 first-half minutes and claimed a fourth shortly after the break during the Blues’ 4-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
The goals were the England under 21 international’s first in senior football.
Lingard is on a one-month loan at St Andrews from Manchester United, despite scoring twice for the Red Devils during their pre-season tour against an A-League All Stars side this summer.
The 20-year-old spent three months as a loanee at Leicester City last season.
