Rylands romp opens gap

KING and Queen A recorded a storming 14-1 victory at Rylands A to take a five-point lead in Section A heading into the final week of the Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association’s Monday League.
Bill Stewart, 21-6, and Damian Morrison, 21-7, were the league leaders’ top performers, while Stuart McIntyre provided Rylands’ sole win.
Second-placed St Oswalds A defeated Grange A 10-5 helped by Jason Lockett, 21-5, and Dave Penketh, 21-6, while Grange B scored a 9-5 success over Grapes.
Trevor Thomas, 21-3, and Martin McInerny, 21-5, were the top winners for Grange.
Wins from Paul Garratt, 21-4, and Norman Murray, 21-10, helped Eagle Sports A to an 11-3 win over Tetley A, for whom Tony Smith starred with 21-4.
Alford A defeated Woolston A 10-5 boosted by victories from John Green, 21-3, and Phil Arnold, 21-12.
Padgate stay top of Section D following their 10-5 victory at Bayleaf, chased all the while by Alford B, who stay second following their 21-2 win over Woolston B.
Wins from Mark Norris, 21-3, and Graham Morris, 21-8, helped Monk Sports A to a 10-4 success over Pierpoints.
Penketh Tavern’s 10-5 victory at St Albans included wins from Alan Rowe, 21-11, and Alf Green, 21-12, while Tommy Donoghue and Mike Widocks shared the home sweep 21-9.
Orford WM A have won section E courtesy of their 9-6 win at Red Lion B.
Terry Grant was the sweep winner, 21-6, while Stuart Baker won 21-2 for the Lion.
Eagle B are second following a 9-6 success at Tetleys C, boosted by Dave Wareham, 21-8, and Tony Judson, 21-12, as John Burke took the visitors’ sweep 21-10.
Richmonds B’s 10-5 win at St Patricks included Alan Trainor’s 21-5 sweep winner, while Alan Johnson, 21-8, was the top home player.
Section F winners St Oswalds C completed their season with a 10-4 success over Brooklands B thanks in part to Paul Heavie, 21-0, and John Heritage, 21-5.
Second-placed Culcheth B had a narrow 8-7 victory at Stag B helped by Lawrence Lally, 21-8, and J Lockett, 21-10.
Irish Club A defeated Irish Club B 12-3 as Darren Hegan, 21-6, and David Shingler, 21-9, were the top performers for the A team, as Ian Graham took the B team sweep 21-11.
Wins from Ken Bibby, 21-8, and Mike Melbourne, 21-9, helped Monk Sports B to a 12-3 success at Burtonwood B.
