Shaun Reid sizes up Warrington Town's capabilities
4:20pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in Sport
SHAUN Reid believes Warrington Town’s tough start to the season will help him assess his team’s capabilities in their bid for promotion.
His target of nine points from four games is out of reach already after losses to Darlington and Lancaster City, with tricky fixtures to come against Ramsbottom United and Northwich Victoria over the bank holiday weekend.
But the Yellows’ boss has no qualms about the schedule and insists his side are ‘in it to win it’.
“The games couldn’t have come any tougher at the beginning of the season,” he said.
“They’re all against sides who will be up there come the end of the season.
“You have to play everyone at some point, then we’ve got a great indication of where we are and what needs to improve.
“There’s no point going into a season not aiming to get promoted or to be the best.”
However, Reid expects to make a couple of extra additions to a much-changed Town squad.
“We’re looking to strengthen in time for the Ramsbottom game,” he added.
“But if players do their job and play well they’ll keep their place.”
Town host Ramsbottom this Saturday before visiting Valley Road in Flixton on Monday to face Northwich Victoria.
Both games start at 3pm.
They will host Winsford United in the FA Cup preliminary round on Saturday week, August 31.
