Gap widens at the top of the table after King and Queen romp to 14-0 victory
A 14-0 whitewash by King and Queen A cemented their place at the top of Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association’s Monday League Section A.
Steve Brown, 21-2, and Bill Stewart, 21-5, were the top winners against Woolston A, helping King extend their lead over second-placed St Oswalds A, who earned a similarly convincing 12-2 victory over Grange B.
Stuart Goodwin, 21-9, and Bill Burlinson, 21-11, starred for Oswalds.
Wins from Peter Cowell, 21-3, and Doug Heaton, 21-6, helped Tetley A defeat Rylands A 10-4, while Grapes recorded a 13-1 success against Eagle A and Grange A won 9-6 at Finlayson Cup winners Alford A.
Burtonwood A went top of Section B following their 12-2 victory over Tetley B, helped by Ged Keeley, 21-0, and Dennis Brookes, 21-2.
Culcheth A slipped into second after an 8-6 loss at Cadishead, while Vulcan BC scored a 12-2 victory over Crosfields helped by winning cards for Alan Nash, 21-5, and George Marsh, 21-6.
Victories from Neil Bouch, 21-5, and Mike Mannion Jnr, 21-10, helped St Oswalds B to a 12-3 success at Bulls Head A.
Only four points separate the top five teams in Section C, with King and Queen B topping the list following a 9-6 success at Stag A.
One point back are Penketh BC, who had the bye week, as third-placed GESM B defeated fourth placed Monks Hall 8-7.
