Dolly Blues pinch points

Warrington Town 2 Lancaster City 3
A STOPPAGE time winner condemned Warrington Town to a second successive defeat in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s Division One North on Tuesday.
Tom Kilifin grabbed Lancaster City’s winner after David Mannix and Ben Wharton had given Town a second half advantage.
The visitors broke the deadlock after three minutes when Mark Jackson and Aaron Taylor combined before the latter coolly slotted past keeper Craig Dootson.
Yellows began to fight their way back into the game when Mannix levelled from a free kick less than 10 minutes later, firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
The hosts looked like taking an interval lead when Wharton and then Craig Robinson went close, before Ciaran Kilheeney’s effort was ruled out for offside.
However Shaun Reid’s outfit did manage to edge ahead immediately after the interval when Wharton brought down Phil Davies’ delivery and lashed past the visitors’ stopper.
The ex-Radcliffe man came close to grabbing his second and doubling Town’s lead on the hour, but watched his header drop inches wide of the far post.
Warrington were punished for failing to put the game out of sight with nine minutes left, when Simon Wearing levelled with almost his first touch.
The substitute nipped in to capitalise on Robinson and central defensive partner James McCarten’s failure to clear when both going for a loose ball.
In the dying moments, Kilifin pounced at the back post to slot home and pinch the points for the Dolly Blues.
Town: Dootson, Davies, Kennedy, Millington (West), McCarten, Robinson, Gahgan, Mannix, Wharton, Kilheeney, Dawson. Subs not used: Dogan, Mooney, Newby.
