MATHEW Gibson has been successful in world and national cycling events over the past few days.
The 16-year-old, part of British Cycling’s Olympic Development Programme and a member of Cheshire-based team Velocity WD-40, won the men’s kilo on the opening day of the British National Junior and Youth Track Championships in Manchester.
He went into that event on the back of a fine performance in the Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Glasgow.
In a test event for next year’s Commonwealth Games at the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, the former Warrington Road Club rider finished fourth for Great Britain in the individual pursuit against older competitors.
