PAUL Hanagan has returned from a successful stint in Dubai and is preparing to start his 2013 British flat season campaign at Doncaster.

The Latchford-born 32-year-old capped a brilliant winter stint in the Middle East with Group 3 victory on Shuruq in Meydan’s UAE Oaks for boss Sheik Hamdan Al Maktoum, and now the two-time Champion Jockey is back in Newmarket ahead of the new season, which starts on Saturday.

Hanagan starts his UK return with a full complement of six rides for former boss Richard Fahey at Doncaster today, Friday, before returning the following day for the headline race, the William Hill Lincoln.

He is booked to ride the Dr Marwan Koukash-owned Our Jonathan in Saturday’s Listed Cammidge Trophy race, and will follow that up with a ride on the John Gosden-trained Eshtibaak for Sheik Maktoum in the main event at 3.50pm.

It is an interesting choice for Hanagan, who has favoured the 12/1 shot ahead of progressive market leader Lahaag, which will be ridden by William Buick.
