Warriors swimmer selected for European Championships

WARRIORS of Warrington Swimming Club’s Kathleen Dawson has gained selection for Great Britain in the European Junior Championships.

She will head to Poland in July after achieving three qualification times and breaking the Scottish senior 50m backstroke national record during the inaugural British Gas International Meet in Leeds.

Dawson won the girls’ junior 50m backstroke, was third in the 100m backstroke and fourth in the 200m backstroke.

Clubmate Matthew Domville reached the final of the under 18s boys’ 200m butterfly at the age of 16, clocking a personal best 2mins 8.96secs in finishing eighth.

David Richardson also achieved his first under 18s final appearance in the 400m individual medley, touching home 10th just outside his best time in 4mins 44.59secs Oliver Houghton, aged 14, contested the under 18s 50m backstroke final in a personal best 28.22secs.
