WARRINGTON Ladies hockey teams had a gruelling weekend as they fitted in rearranged fixtures alongside the scheduled ones.

The first team started well, beating Brooklands 2-0 away with goals from Jenny Day and Sarah Milner.

On Sunday, they met top of the table Chester and despite a valiant second-half effort were defeated 6-2, leaving themselves fifth in Cheshire Division Two.

Steph Rawlins and Sarah Gregson scored the goals from two well-worked short corners.

The second team put in two spirited performances with only nine players, going down 6-1 to both Macclesfield and Neston.

Amy Quayle scored for the second week running and Kirsty Anderson netted her first goal for the club.
