WARRINGTON women’s hockey team continued their winning run with a thrilling 3-2 success over league leaders Macclesfield.

Warrington took the lead inside a minute when the in-form Marian Taig won the ball and went on a jinking solo run before calmly slotting past the keeper.

Player of the match Emma Bartlett doubled the lead minutes later with an excellent finish.

Despite great defending from Victoria Pollard and Steph Rawlins, Macclesfield gradually worked their way back to 2-2.

Two minutes from the end, Taig won a short corner which Rawlins converted with a bullet-like strike to secure a deserved victory.

The second team had a tough game, facing Lymm with only 10 players.

Sisters Holly and Emily McCurrie were outstanding in defence alongside Debbie Mason, but even player of the match Abi Hynes couldn’t prevent the 5-0 scoreline.
