First loss in eight outings for Warrington First loss in eight outings for Warrington

WARRINGTON men's hockey team tasted their first defeat in eight games at top of the table Leyland and Chorley.

The first half was a close affair with Warrington putting in one of the best performances of the season, matching the table toppers and finishing the half with the scores level at 1-1 after a goal by Steve Worrall.

However, in the second half, Leyland scored a second which seemed to inspire the home side who blitzed another two goals in quick succession.

Goal line clearances by both Ed Jones and Steven Fiddy kept the score down but a late goal towards the end meant the final score was a 5-1 loss for Warrington.
